//5 key steps steel pipe manufacturers can perform to ensure quality control

As a stainless steel pipes manufacturer, our real strength lies in guaranteeing quality control.

At Shubhlaxmi, our manufacturing process swears by few procedures products undergo before reaching your business.

Here are five key steps/procedures stainless steel tube manufacturers in India can consider for quality control:

  • Mechanical Testing:

This standard testing procedure covers tensile strength, namely tension, bend, hardness and impact.

These tests can be performed at an ambient temperature, in air, or in water environments under high pressure and temperature.

Widely known as ASTM A370, this test is broadly recognized in industries where safety depends on the quality of materials.

  • Hydro Test:

Hydro testing or a hydrostatic test is a common procedure for stainless steel equipment. The chloride content of water must be within the range of the stainless steel grade of resistance.

This procedure is carried out using a high-pressure pump on all pipes and tubes, as per the code/standard.

The hydrostatic test is usually done by stainless steel tube manufacturers to avoid problems such as cracking or corrosion   which usually result from improper water quality.

  • Hardness Testing:

To check the surface hardness of any stainless steel material, the standard/code of testing used is the Rockwell Brinell hardness test.

This can check as to how much a product or material can deform by indentation.

The Rockwell B scale typically uses a 1/16 “ ball intender and a 100kg major load to measure the depth of penetration by indentation.

As a leading stainless steel pipes manufacturer, testing the surface hardness of our products is pivotal to our operation.

  • Corrosion Testing:

A procedure commonly performed to test the susceptibility of stainless steel material to an intergranular or cracked form of corrosion.

At Shubhlaxmi, the IGC test is performed as per industry code/standard A, B, C, OR E in our fully equipped laboratory for maximum quality assurance.

For stainless steel equipment to perform effectively and resist corrosion, it is important for parts to be passivated and tested properly.

As this process is vital in ensuring that product quality meets your expectations.

The material’s capacity to self-passivate promises longevity compared to any other sacrificial coating.

However, it is crucial to remember that despite this trusted method, stainless steel is not impenetrable to rust.

  • Chemical Testing:

To test the equipment or product quality, a chemical analysis based on Spectro Max (Germany) spectrometer is carried out in the laboratory.

A chemical procedure involving a Nitric Acid test is performed to separate non-stainless steel elements.

Grade 304 (stainless steel) remains unaffected by this whereas non-stainless steel shows a brown fumigation.

As a leading stainless steel seamless pipe manufacturer, Shubhlaxmi has a complete quality control facility inspecting each stainless steel product leaving our factory.
